In troubling times, it’s reassuring to be able to look back upon a long and durable tradition. Putney Student Travel has been offering unparalleled opportunities for high school students to explore the world for 55 summers, making us one of the oldest organizations of our kind in America. But the wealth of experience, contacts, and time-tested educational approaches we’ve developed over the past half century and more has never stood in the way of the things we’re famous for: bold innovation, new adventures, cultural interaction, and a continuing emphasis on flexible, dynamic, well-planned small-group learning experiences guided by uniquely qualified leaders.

An ongoing quest for adventure. On our website and in our catalog, you’ll find dozens of enticing programs, many of which have been created in the last several years. This roster is balanced by many other itineraries that are tried and true, but all of our programs reflect a long-term commitment to seeking out the hidden corners of the world, and making them safely accessible to our bold and discriminating participants.

Exploring old places in new ways. The Putney Way does not involve traveling on a tour bus, eating at MacDonald’s, or staying in five star hotels. We’ve always favored the off-the-beaten path approach, which may or may not involve alternative forms of transportation such as the one pictured here.

We care about people. The great value of our programs has never been limited to accomplishments such as increased language fluency or progressive grassroots development. It’s interaction with local people that offers the greatest rewards -- and a network of enduring friendships that stretches across the planet.
